SSVCA is a charity that started life in October 1981 as Yeovil & District CVS. Over the years, we have established ourselves as one of the largest charities in South Somerset delivering much needed advice, resources and services to organisations and people in need.
Our services have continued to develop and change to respond to the changing needs of our community throughout this time. The most recent developments have included the merger of our Voluntary Sector Support service with the charity, Mendip Community Support in April 2016. Now rebranded as SPARK, this service is providing vital support to voluntary and community groups across South Somerset, Mendip and Sedgemoor. www.sparksomerset.org.uk
SSVCA’s Community Transport Service continues to be a lifeline for hundreds of individuals across South Somerset, providing accessible transport for the elderly and people with mobility issues. www.communitytransport.org.uk
2016 also saw the departure of our Furnicare service, which is now being run by Somerset Care and Repair: www.furnicare.co.uk
As a result, SSVCA now has two key areas of focus: SPARK and Community Transport, each run by a General Manager and overseen by the Board of Trustees. For more information about each of these services, click on the links above.
